Abortion is viewed by Americans from many different perspectives. In many cases, the girls are left with the big decision: whether to abort the baby or not. During 2012, there were about 1.2 million babies aborted. These statistics include "only surgical and medical abortions" ("Number of Abortions" 1). These numbers don't include the "back-door" abortions ("Number of Abortions" 1). That number is shocking, but many people feel like abortion is okay even though it's not. The supporters of abortion advocate themselves as "Pro-Choice" and the community against abortion as "Pro-Life." Pro-Choice defenders believe that the right is there own and they have the right to do what want with their reproductive organs. Pro-Life supporters believe that the government has an obligation to preserve all human life. Most Pro-Life supporters are part of the Roman Catholic Church and many other religious groups. Different political groups feel differently about abortion too; Republicans do not support abortion, but Democrats do. Science doesn't back anything about abortion, but killing is killing; it doesn't matter how old the baby is, or how small the fetus is. For example, in the memoir Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi, the extremists forced their way of life on the citizens of Iran. At the beginning of the book, the people were free, but when the extremist took power they changed how people lived, and most Iranians didn't like it. In Persepolis, the people just had to keep fighting against the extremists. People need to fight abortion just like Marji and her family fought the revolution. The many perspectives on abortion really lets people understand how pressing this issue is.Works Cited
